Biography:

The Wither Skeleton is a hostile mob found in the Nether dimension of Minecraft. A variant of the standard Minecraft Skeleton, it is taller, black in color, and wields a stone sword.

Wither Skeletons first appeared in the 1.4.2 update of Minecraft, also known as the "Pretty Scary Update," released in October 2012. They are exclusively found in Nether Fortresses, making them a somewhat rare encounter.

Unlike regular Skeletons, Wither Skeletons inflict the "Wither" status effect upon players they attack. This effect slowly drains the player's health and turns their hearts black, and if the player dies due to this effect their character will take on a similar appearance.

Notably, Wither Skeletons are the only source of Wither Skeleton Skulls, an item required to summon the Wither boss. This makes them a highly sought-after mob for players seeking to challenge the Wither.
